FlexJobs History and Evolution as a Work Flexibility Leader


FlexJobs was created in 2007 to provide a better, more effective way to help job seekers interested in professional remote and flexible jobs to connect with the employers hiring for them. FlexJobs was founded by job space pioneer Sara Sutton, who had also started the first online entry-level job service, JobDirect in 1995 (sold to Korn|Ferry International in 2000).

Starting with Sara's vision, FlexJobs has always believed that a modern workplace should address the needs of today's workforce and that utilizing workplace technology to support remote, freelance, part-time, and flexible work will achieve societal, environmental, and economic benefits for both employers and workers.

We don't just talk about flexible jobs, we actually walk the walk: FlexJobs has an entirely distributed team who work from home offices with flexible schedules. Some of us work full-time, others part-time or freelance. We are uniquely familiar with the many benefits that flexible options provide for employers, as well as for employees and freelancers, all of which help us understand how to help companies successfully hire for flexible workers.
